DescriptionRoutes in a topology table for an AS are assigned serial numbers and are sequenced internally as they are inserted and deleted. The serial number of the first route in that internal sequence is called the head serial number. Each AS has its own topology table, and its own serial number space, each of which begins with the value 1. A serial number of zero implies that there are no routes in the topology.
